Shoreline Mist and Spring Zephyrs are Theo Moorman weavings, a technique of two warps where the design is woven over a ground cloth, hence visible only on the surface and the backside is just the ground cloth This was popularized by the British weaver Theo Moorman in the '60's/'70's. Jana attended the workshop she gave in Albuquerque NM in 1979. This technique is similar to the ancient lampass that Ethel Stein used for her figurative pieces in her 2014 retrospective show at The Art Institute in Chicago. The challenge is to maintain tension with two different warps/wefts.
Both of these are handwoven on my Swedish table loom. Spring Zephyrs also has embroidery.
